It took a day to read each book, and ell day I was more and more interested on the fates of Sonea, Rothen, Dannyl, Cery, and eventually, even perhaps more than the rest, Akkarin.
Canavan has done a bit of Dungeons and Dragons playing as it comes close to such an adventure – all surface, single-layer action and no deep storyline.
If you want to read an danavan trilogy with a meager first novel, go read this trilogy. Stars PS – Yes, you can make new year’s resolutions in the middle of the year.

Maybe I would have accepted it more easily if there had been a little more foreshadowing and ambiguity in previous novels or if there was a bit more ambiguity in this one, but Sonea and Loreln especially seemed too willing to forgive and forget.

Michael Odgers-Jewell This review old as hell but i just read it and honestly, they sat and had a chat instead of absorbing the energy from the training building. He’s genuinely fond of her and he goes to great lengths for Sonea’s sake alone with no ulterior motive like win her love or anything like that and it brings tears to my eyes.
They were quite simply drawn, when I think about it — Akkarin, for example, despite being a major character, got barely any characterisation at all until partway through the last book of the trilogy.
